Edo 2020 Updates: Voters Not Observing Physical Distancing Amidst COVID-19 Threat - (Photos)

Electorates in Edo State are already at the polls to choose their governor for the next four years.


The battle of who emerges governor of the State is clearly between incumbent Governor, Godwin Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.


Pastor Ize-Iyamu has the backing of the former Governor of the State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, who is the immediate past National Chairman of the APC.


There have been reports of violence and killings with continued clashes between supporters of the two leading political parties ahead of Saturday’s election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has commenced the display of voters register at Ward 2, Unite 3, by Rest House Road Junction, Igarra, Akoko-Edo Local Government Area.


The INEC staff on the ground at APO 1,2,3 maintained the 8:30 am commencement of both accreditation and voting.


However, at another polling unit, many of the voters were seen not observing physical distancing.
